Inspiration: Peru

Peru’s mystique is deeply rooted in its ancient civilizations, modern marvels, and natural wonders including the snowcapped peaks of the Andean Highlands, and the lush jungles of the Amazon.

Lima is South America’s gastronomic capital, boasting an explosive food scene, showcasing Michelin-star restaurants including Central, the “World’s Best Restaurant 2023”.  The innovative cuisine found in Peru is thanks to its local ingredients including potato (more than 4,000 varieties grow here including pink and purple!), quinoa, the “sacred mother grain”, and choclo, large-kernel corn is found in both street food and fine dining. Ceviche is Peru’s national dish, traditionally prepared with Corvina, a local sea bass marinated with lime, red onion, and chili.

With an acclaimed anthropologist and archeologist explore the Sacred Valley and hike to the Sun Gate while visiting Machu Picchu. Traditions abound from curanderos, or shamans, practicing traditional medicine to weavers producing intricate woven textiles made from soft Alpaca wool.

Often overlooked, the wonders of the Inca Empire are peppered throughout the country. Vinicunca, or Rainbow Mountain, shines brightly while Nazca geoglyphs stand out from space. The sand dunes of the Huacachina feature an unexpected desert oasis and Colca Canyon provides a home to Andean Condors and natural hot springs.

Our preferred way to see Peru is by luxury train. This elegant form of transport allows you to travel in style past sprawling mountains with Lake Titicaca as your stunning backdrop.

We are also proponents of exploring the Amazon via high-end cruising. Peru provides convenient access to the northern section of the river which is home to dense rainforests, and allows you to pass pink dolphins and giant otters.

The time to plan your Peruvian adventure is now … let TS guide you through this remarkable destination.
