Just Back: Sonoma
More than Wine
by Darren Humphreys
During my recent trip to Sonoma, I was reminded of just how diverse this county is. In recent years, it has stepped out of the shadow of neighboring Napa Valley and proven itself a destination that offers so much more than award-winning wineries.
Sonoma lies just north of San Francisco, a cultural region that has long attracted musicians and artists, whose works are shown in studios, galleries, and sculpture parks. There are no shortage of opportunities to explore the natural beauty of this area including horseback riding, fishing, or hiking through redwoods—some of the tallest trees in the US, estimated up to 1,500 years old—only found in the northern Pacific Coast.
TS favors boutique properties including Harbor House Inn, on the Mendocino Coast, and Single Thread Farms, located in the Dry Creek Valley. Dine on farm-to-table meals accompanied by impressive wine selections from small local producers.
Wineries we love include Lambert Bridge, Mauritson Wines, and Buena Vista. All offer exclusive experiences such as vertical and barrel tasting, rare reserve sampling, and insights from expert winemakers.
You do not want to miss out on the breadth of activities available … let us help you take advantage of you every side of Sonoma.
