Honeymoon in Pure New Zealand

By Hailey Landers

My husband, Chris, and I celebrated our marriage with a minimoon in St. Lucia, followed by our official honeymoon to New Zealand six months later—best of both worlds!

The South Island was a perfect fit for us as a couple—adventurous, spontaneous, active, and chill. I’ve been talking about our honeymoon for seven years, and I have yet to find words to truly describe my love for New Zealand. The pure air, unspoiled landscapes, and 360-degree vistas were a breath of fresh air—literally! The dramatic scenery felt surreal, but it was the Kiwi’s warmth and hospitality that resonated most. Highlights I stand behind:

+ Kayaking through glass-like Doubtful Sound Fiords
+ Sailing at sunset beside playful dusky dolphins
+ Stargazing speechless at the Southern Hemisphere sky
+ Dining on lamb with mint chutney and sipping crisp sauvignon blanc
+ Biking Roys Peak for stunning vistas of Lake Wanaka
+ Heli-hiking through iridescent ice caves on Franz Joseph Glacier
+ Learning about the Māori's spiritual legends and lore

As the adrenaline capital of the world, options to get wild include bungee jumping, skydiving, ATVing, and jet boating. Kia Ora!
